The tax collector had
an appetite for berry smoothies
and a secret love of robotic exchanges
between baristas and caffeine addicts.
An empty emptiness fanatic,
who dreamed of giving
the girl at the bus stop
(with the quiet lip-syncing lips)
a daisy because by the way she
stared forlornly at the pigeons pecking
at nothing, he knew
she liked simplicity
even more than him.
my writing is getting smaller and smaller.

and less and less significant.

one day it may disappear completely.

I really like the last couple of lines. And it won't disappear as long as those of us who read it remember, and I know I will.

This is the first piece of your work I found and I think it's wonderful. I hope your writing doesn't disappear completely I only just discovered you, but just because it's small in lines doesn't make it and less large in meaning or in brilliance. Just remember that.

the girl at the bust stop typo?

love the last two lines. this reminds me so much of Stranger than Fiction. your writing is anything but less significant. smaller doesn't mean meaningless or bad, you seem to work your way around every length, make it yours and brilliant.

if you ever stop writing, I will hunt you down, tear down your door, barge into your room, hug you and give you your much-awaited oatmeal cookies until you agreed to start again.

changes the meaning of the poem a bit with that typo, eh?

it was definitely inspired somewhat by that film ^^
aw, thanks, y-m.

:fear: oh god. okay, the first part had me scared but then the hugs and cookies...I'm conflicted!
ah, I'd keep writing if you asked but probably only for you.

you remind me of a musical artist who i can't put my finger on just now in the straightforward, honest way you describe people. it's so natural and beautiful, kind of the way real life is.

ah, that's cool ^^ wish you could say who.
I really appreciate that. it is what I try to achieve in my work.
real life with the occasional touch of the fantastical.

I loved the poem but I loved your comment on the poem even more. I believe every writer feels that way, I know I do! Everyone wants to create something that changes someone, most never do, but that should never stop you from trying. Thank you for sharing this with the world.

ah, I appreciate that. yeah, it can definitely be discouraging when you feel like your artwork is going unnoticed and not making the impact you had hoped.
it's sad to think that I am missing out on someones heartfelt art but yes, they should never stop trying and neither should I.

thank you for taking the time to read and leave your thoughts.

I love stories about people who go to coffee shops. I spend a great deal of time there and identify a lot with both characters in this short story :)
