love
is an ocean

we
are stones

rocking
in its coldshoulder ebb
in its embracing flow

sinking
into the blueness
swirling grey

swallowed wanting
the erosion
to smooth this roughness
sweep away
our outer selves

hold us shellless
in its complex infinity
and to lower us slowly
into its depths
inspired in large part by *Hfeather53 comment "I think love is the ocean and we're all stones" and tangentially by Ben Howard's Black Flies [link]

more ocean... sorry.

As discussed before, a great example of a plotless poem. I especially liked the idea of love eroding, sweeping away our outer selves, our shells. How this loosing our shells is not described as something violent or dangerous, but actually something wished for. Because I feel for true love it is essentially necessary to let each other get close, past this exterior self. I think as you describe it in the poem, humans are truly longing to finally be able to show their true selves. I also liked the song you linked, to me it fit perfectly with this contented, slowly sinking feeling of the poem.
