Literature Text

I'm in love with clean slates
writing my name in the corner of blank
pages, I own my newness,
like the rising sun takes the crisp morning;
today, I seize pen to paper pushing out ink
into shapes of my desire, words for windows,
till I scratch the clearness to a maddened blur--

imagine,
the nightmare noise of a car crash
see how I conduct your neurons in mere seconds?
do you feel violated as I color the page,
your mind, as I drain mine.

rather stain it.
as one thought departs another arrives
unloading its baggage like an unwelcome
guest in my home.

people populate gyri slowly as
sunflowers turn
and in the sulci I am left wondering,
how to bleach memories.

the truth is,
I need tabula rasas
like I need to know
how many pills take me
to the edge of ODing.

the truth is
I am in love
with what lies below
the creeping blood staining
my pages like some twisted whiteout.
underneath lie the skid marks,
my stammers, my shakily written words
to slow the wreck I put into motion.

I brought these thoughts into your world
and I need to take you out of mine
before you rob me blind.

"I own my newness"

I love the feeling of hope and empowerment that gives me before the poem takes a dark turn. Masterfully done.
